A facelift is a surgical procedure used to improve and reverse the anatomical changes produced by the aging process on the face and neck.
As time passes, everyone experiences signs of facial aging. Typically, the cheeks fall and deep wrinkles are formed between them and the lips. Additionally, wrinkles form on the forehead and between the eyebrows while the area of the jaw drops, and loose skin falls in the neck. Many find an excess of skin on the upper eyelid, bags under the eyes, and that their eyebrows fall on the eyelids.
As these signs advance, the limpness and fall of the tissues cause multiple thick wrinkles, the eyes sink, the tip of the nose drops, deep tissue diminishes, and the structure of the face appears more boney and the atrophy of the facial soft tissues becomes quite evident.
The signs of facial aging are due to changes in the skin in terms of loss of elasticity and volume, as well as the loss of fat and muscles tone of the face. At STIMA, we approach the face from a three-dimensional point of view to look both superficially on the skin and on a deeper level. In doing so we work to return the facial features to their initial position where they resided when we were younger. The goal is to rejuvenate the face by restoring facial lines and contours.
Dr. Victor Astudillo restores what time and gravity have taken, performing a facelift in which the face is approached in its entirety by treating and repositioning the deep tissues of the face and neck and using the new concepts of volumetric restoration, without pulling and stretching the skin excessively , but instead repositioning the skin over the treated underlying facial anatomical structures. By doing so Dr. Victor Astudillo is known for his natural and homogenous results.
When a facelift is done just by approaching the skin (skin lift), without treating the deep tissues that support it, the results are artificial. This gives off an operated, over-stretched appearance where patients even lose expressive capacity. While it is true that the recovery of this skin lift is faster, the results are not natural and will not last more than a couple of years.
The Face Lift done by Dr. Astudillo is a surgery to restore volume and deep tissues, from which the skin then adapts. This surgery does not stretch the skin to make wrinkles disappear.
Dr. Astudillo became an expert in his technique while training alongside internationally renowned professors at the most prestigious centers in Palm Beach, Florida.
The techniques are customized for each patient and a thorough pre-surgical consultation is important to establish the aesthetic goals and to customize the surgery to fulfill the desires of each patient. The incisions of this procedure are made inside the hairline, then to the entrance of
the external auditory canal, then around the earlobe and ascend behind the ear to finally follow the line of implantation of the ear. Most scars will be hidden inside the hair above the ear or within the normal cutaneous lines of the skin so they are virtually imperceptible.
The facelift procedure plays a central role in our program of facial rejuvenation. Many patients have a facelift to complement other non-invasive or cosmetic surgery procedures.
The facelift procedure plays a key role in our facial rejuvenation program, considering that it will be a resource that we will resort to in a staggered manner after, or as a complement to other non-invasive or medical-aesthetic procedures.
The duration of a facelift procedure can vary depending on the complexity of the intervention, but it will usually take 3-4 hours. If the facelift is accompanied by another facial rejuvenation procedure, the duration may be longer.
At STIMA, the facelift and other facial rejuvenation procedures are performed under sedation or general anesthesia. A Face Lift is a procedure that must be performed in an operating room that is fully equipped for the procedure at hand.
The first step is to schedule a consultation at STIMA, during which Dr. Víctor Astudillo will evaluate your facial anatomy, quality of your skin, and muscular structure to determine if a facelift will give you the rejuvenating changes you are looking for.
There is no ideal age at which a facelift should be performed. Everything depends on the degree of aging that your face presents. The majority of patients are between the ages of 40 and 70, although they can also be performed at older ages. The fundamental condition is that the skin of the face has a certain degree of elasticity to allow it to adapt to the repositioning of the deep structures that will be put back in place.
In our surgical practice, we are in favor of rejuvenating the face but without altering the individual anatomical features. We aim to give you a younger and healthier look.
A facelift does not stop the passing of time, but each individual continues their facial aging process, it will be from a much earlier starting point. The results of a properly done facelift can last up to 10 or 15 years.
After a facelift surgery at STIMA, our patients will stay in the hospital for 1-2 days after surgery. We are committed to making sure you are comfortable with the amenities you desire after your procedure, and thus provide you with a luxurious room where you can stay with a companion.
During your stay in our hospital, patients wear a turban-type bandage and possibly drains, which are removed at the time of discharge or at the first postoperative visit. Dr. Astudillo considers the
postoperative period extremely important, which is why he checks in on his patients two or more times per week if necessary for 6 weeks after the procedure. Patients are gradually reincorporated into their daily activities 10 days after surgery, and can return to physical activity and exercise between 6 and 8 weeks after the surgery.
For our patients who come from abroad, it is important for you to plan a post-op care period of 17 to 21 days so that we can ensure your health and wellness following the procedure before returning to your country.
